Most Popular Plus Size Dress of 2008
December 9, 2008

I was doing a little end of year research into what plus size clothing has sold in my shop over the past year. I wanted to find the one item that we’ve sold the most of.
I was totally surprised to find that that one item is a 50’s Rockabilly Black and White Halter Dress. Now I’m wondering why so many people ordered that one dress.
The clothing line is Pacific Plex. This is one of the lines that hasn’t been able to find just one plus size model to use in their ads. Not one! So this line hasn’t been a personal favorite of mine. I mean, if you can’t display the dress on a plus size model, why bother? Seems like their plus size clothing line is just an afterthought.
But now I’m seeing their line in a different light.
1. They DO have lots of plus size apparel, although their main focus is on skinny girls.
2. The prices are darn good. The Rockabilly dress above sells for just $29.99 (well it’s on sale right now.)
3. The clothing, though designed for skinny girls, is quite stylish.
4. They carry sizes up to a 5X or 6X. I guess that DOES show their commitment to the full figured women community. (I get really sick of manufacturers and designers calling a size 10 or 12 a plus size, don’t you?)

Who Buys Plus Size Clothing?
December 6, 2008
Yesterday I found a website that tells what the demographics of any other site are. So I plugged in the url for Plus-Size-Heaven.com and here’s what I found. (It’s
quite interesting. actually.)
27% of my store visitors are MEN.
Now I’d like to think that there were a lot of men online shopping forplus size lingerie for their lovers, but you and I know that just doesn’t happen, right?
So who are these men shopping there? I know for a fact (I’ve received emails thanking me for offering very large sizes) that some of these men are cross dressers, and I truly appreciate their business. But I never considered that market when I started plus-size-heaven.com almost 5 years ago. At least the cross dressers actually BUY things.
But I think most of the male visitors we get are "chubby chasers." They come to look at the pictures.Unfortunately they do NOT buy. But what the heck, traffic is traffic. And you gotta love these guys who see us for the beautiful women we are. Heck I married one, but he doesn’t buy me clothing
He says, "Hey, you own a couple clothing stores, and you want me to buy you stuff?" I guess he’s right…
The demographics show that most of my visitors are Caucasian college graduates who are middle aged (34-50.) Although most are white women, there is a higher than usual number of African American women who shop here than at other stores.
71% have NO Children. I found that surprising. Are most of my visitors career women? I sit here at home on my computer with my kids playing beside me and run my companies. I’ve never worked outside the home in an office building, so my idea of what women do all day is kinda skewed. I do have a LOT of career wear for curvy girls, tough.
The demograpics ( at least from this site,) say that our visitors are less affluent. I kind of think this figure is whack. I mean if you make from $60,000 to $100,000 a year, you’re doing pretty good, in my book. Am I right? Only 12% make over $100,000 a year. Somehow I doubt that even Victoria’s Secret gets any different a demographic as far as income goes. Wacky statistic.
So why do I give you all these details? It’s just to let you know that I’m always working to fit our product lines to the visitors who come to our site. We have a lot more plus size dresses for under $50 than over $100.
So leave me a comment and tell us exactly what you want from a plus size clothing store, ok? I’ll go find it for you, and at the best price possible.
Oh, and in case you want to know how those "chubby chasers" find us ?
Here’s a little video I did a couple years ago. It has gotten almost 100,000 views, and a lot of comments fro men and women alike. Now if I could just get these male visitors to stop drooling over the plus size models and actually BUY something sexy for their girlfriends…
Show it to your own man and give him our url! Maybe you’ll be surprised this Christmas!
Help Me Rate The Plus Size Clothing Lines
December 5, 2008
One of the things I want to do with this blog is to rate the various plus size clothing lines, whether or not I carry them in my shop. Like I mentioned on my last post, some designers and apparel manufacturers don’t really design specifically for large framed women. Others do!
Please help me to decide on what items to carry. I’ll make a post about a particular clothing line. Please visit the page for that line or that store and make a comment back as to what you like and dislike about it, ok?
One line of note is the Kiyonna line. Here’s why I like them so much, and why I use their images n my index page slideshow:
1. They use plus size models! Don’t you find it disheartening when you see an ad for a pretty plus size dress, and it’s being modeled by some size 10 twig of a little girl? What do they do? Pin up the extra fabric in the back? Can’t they find a pretty large woman anywhere in the country? Come on!
And how does that help me to see how it might look on my size 18 body??
2. THE STYLE is not geared toward a teenaged market-although I’m sure that a lot of teens love them anyway. It’s geared to a fashion savvy group of women from about 25-45. The Kiyonna fashions range from business perfection to elegant and then it proceeds on to sexy.
3. PRICING
Kiyonna dresses, skirts and pants are not the cheapest in the marketplace, but these days, I’d rather have a few things that are beautiful and versatile than a lot of Walmart things. Kiyonna clothing isn’t the most expensive in the field, either. It’s a well priced line of quality, stylish
clothing that fits well.
If I actually worked outside of the home I’d probably have a lot more Kiyonna fashions. But since I work from my computer at home, I only have a few of this line’s things, but I absolutely LOVE them. I admit it, at home I’m a tee shirt and shorts kinda girl.
Take a look at the Kiyonna items I carry in my shop, then visit the main site at www.kiyonna.com to be even more wowed.
Take a look and then comment
back with a rating from 1 star to 5 stars. I always like feedback!
Welcome to My Plus Size World
December 2, 2008

Hello! My name is Ina, which is short for Georgina, which is Scottish and pronounced with an “i” that sounds like “eye.” And yes, already, I know that it rhymes with a female body part.
I wasn’t always a big girl. I mean I was a regular size baby and even got married in a size 10 wedding gown. But life happens. I gained weight. I got over it, and I sure wish everyone else would. Full Figured can, and does, mean sexy and successful.
My passion is stylish plus size clothing. If I could, I’d shop all day-going from one mall to another looking for the prettiest, and sexiest blouses, dresses
and swimsuits. So I’m very aware of the problems curvy women have when trying to find fashionable clothing.
Some manufacturers and designers of plus size clothing think that it’s fine just to enlarge their patterns and call the clothing plus size. Well, it’s not. Full figured means bigger busts in comparison to a skinny girl dress measurements. So what you end up with is a size 18 dress with room only for an “A” cup set of boobs.
This is especially true in “designer” duds. Designers don’t design for women with a D cup. They just make a size three into a size 20, but keep the bust size at an A or B cup. And God forbid that we have a butt that is a tad out of proportion.
Another kind of manufacturer or designer thinks ELASTIC is a plus size woman’s best friend. Uhhh…it’s NOT. Don’t you just love those pants that fit your waist fine, with the elastic and all… But then there is all this extra material hanging down in front down to your crotch. Crazy!
I’ve made a hobby out of checking out various lines of plus size clothing.
I like to find great deals and clothing that actually fits us. It’s my goal
to ferret out the best and most stylish apparel for my real-women sisters and to tell you about those manufacturers that work best for us, while saving us money so we can buy a lot more!
Ina
